  1. I buy Red Heart yarn all the time, mostly because it is very economical. It is a bit stiff so it can be a bit hard on the hands at times BUT it wears like iron! I learned from a friend that if you add 1/2 cup of vinegar to your rinse water when you wash it, it dramatically softens the yarn. The vinegar rinses away so your yarn doesn't smell like vinegar :) I almost always buy the Super Saver size, more bang for your buck. I have used it many times for amigurumi. In fact, I just finished up an Elmo doll for my 2 year old grand daughter made out of the red Red Heart yarn. The colors hold up and don't fade. Some people don't like the Red Heart, they say it is too rough, but I personally don't have a problem with it. Hope this helps you!

  2. The Red Heart Super Saver is my favorite yarn because of the color range and the price - but alot of times it is a little rough (sometimes I will buy some and it will be softer). A short run through the dryer takes care of that. There is also Red Heart Soft you can try - it's soft and a little shiny. :)

  3. Red Heart is a staple for me because of cost, availability and color choice. A good fabric softener helps out with the stiffness.

  4. I love Red Heart yarns. The Super Save is not as soft as some, but frankly softer than others. I don't use for afghans I'm going to bury myself in, but I love how it holds a shape. I'll use it for pillows, afghans I'm going to take outside, home decor, and absolutely amigurumi. And you absolutely cannot beat their color range. And of course, the affordability. And yes, there are other lines, like the Red Heart Soft, that are super yummy, because they are so soft.
