Another Yarn Question

I asked yesterday about red heart yarn and thank you for all you feed back but I forgot to ask if you all what yarn would you use over red heart yarn.

  1. I like the Caron One Pounders. It's similar to the Red Heart Super Savers but I think it's a bit softer. Also it's another one that's a good deal for the money. My next is Lion brand Pound of Love. Pound of Love is probably my very favorite but it can be a little bit pricey if you are on a budget, unless you can get it when it's on sale, which it often is here in the States. It's much softer. Most of the colors are pastels though so it wouldn't work for you if you are looking for something brighter or more vivid. I REALLY like "I Love This Yarn" but it's gotten too pricey for me. It's super soft and washes up really nice.
    Hope this helps you!

  2. I agree Caron yarn is good, but I love Bernat yarn. It's more expensive but I just love it! My main yarn though is Red Heart for color selection and price. Here in New York it is $2.33 in Walmarts.

  3. I like Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn' but it is more expensive than the Red Heart. It is soft and nice to work with. Even though it's more expensive, I've bought the 'ILTY' to get some of the different variegated colors - I couldn't help myself. :)

  4. If I had to choose one of the big box yarns then I'd go with Caron Simply Soft. I've heard lots of good things about I Love This Yarn, though.

  5. The Caron is wonderful. It makes such a soft fabric, but I find it splitty to work with, so you have to decide what's more important. Other than that, yeah, I Love This Yarn. The hard thing about that is that ILTY is a store brand, so harder to find for some. But it is so luxurious to curl up into, and so easy to work with. And the color choices are good, too. I don't mind the price, because at about four bucks a skein, it's still cheaper than many of the other brands. In fact, that's right about what Caron sells for here. I'm not crazy about Lion Brand yarns. They are more splitty, and not as soft, so there's not a trade-off, as far as I'm concerned. You know, in general, for me, it's either I Love This Yarn or Red Heart, though specialized projects call for specialized yarns.....
